I've lusted after a storch for ever - well ever since DD was born so 16 months (lovely pretty colours), but have always been put off by my oh-so-sensible DH who couldn't understand why I want to spend that sort of money when I have 3 other wraps that cost less to buy.

I now have the money (sold some other slings) so could buy one (and I sooo want one!!) but I've lost the ability to put a wrap on and end up frustrated and peed off when I try to get DD onto my back Confused  I've got to the stage now where I've given up with my other wraps - only use them for a front carry, but maybe I would be able to do it with a Storch.

What do you think?  Go on talk me into it Big Grin
I think you need to see it in action maybe?  But what's going on with the back-carrying attempts?  I got myself an Albert a few weeks ago, and I've been using the ggbt for a good while up 'til then, so DD4 was out of the habit of being wrapped onto my back, I put the sling down on the bed and tried to lie her on it, she started screaming and ran off!  Shock rofl So I had to do a kind of hip-shuffle thing to get her on my back and remind her of the wrap lurve Big Grin
tbh I'm not really sure why I'm having so much trouble - probably need to relax and be very calm before I try again.  I don't seem able to get her onto my back from scratch anymore, I have to sit on the sofa and try and get her on that way, which isn't ideal as she's v. impatient with me and wants to be up straight away - overuse of the Ergo probably!

I've seen some piccies on TBW which look quite good, so will have a try with those.  I guess ideally to see one irl and have someone show me what to do would help - I need baby wearing lessons lol!
what other wraps do you have, btw?
I've got some calin bleu's and a homemade one (I've sold one now as I just couldn't get on with it anymore).  Actually I'm wondering if they're just not supportive enough now DD's heavier/older.
I've got 3 Storches and I'd like 1 - or maybe 2 more!Shock DH would of course go spare if he knew.....Blush

I first used them when DD was about 10m old I think. I then had one which was far to long for me. I've got on better since using a 4.6m one. It also helps if your DD is co-operative which is usually after you've been wrapping a while - so they know what is going on (IMO)!

I put the telly on, and/or give her something to fiddle with in her hands while I'm wrapping at home. It's a little more tricky when you're out and about.

I just got the Storchenwiege DVD today, which is EXCELLENT. That had a really good trick on it, where you put your leg up on a step, bench or ladder, to sit your child on while you put your wrap around their back. Then you sort of hip-scoot them around onto your back.

My sister has a calin bleu wrap, and likes it very much, but finds the length tricky (it's about 5m), I think she is going to have it shortened to about 4.6 to see if that helps.

Personally, I love the quality and feel of the Storchenwiege wraps. (I own 3 and would like more - that speaks for it'self.).

I find them very versatile, and I still like to do hip carries (before and after naps, out window shopping, just walking for pleasure etc.). My Daughter is 2y old now. I also wrapped my 3y old the other day, at her request because she was feeling sorry for herself having the chicken-pox!

Don't know if any of that helps. I'd try one, if you don't like it, then you'd probably be able to sell it (for a good price) on FSOT at TBW. Storchenwieges have a good reputation and hold their value well in resale. (IME).
mm I have a calin bleu linen and a cotton wrap made from a duvet cover, and they're ok but not the same level of comfort as the Storch.  I should shut up and let enthusiasts like Josie speak for me Big Grin
OK I think you've convinced me lol!!

I tried again this morning with a gauze wrap and just really struggled, I did get her onboard BUT just couldn't seem to get it tight enough to give adequate support.  DD was swinging back rather dangerously Shock and although she seemed to enjoy it my back didn't!

Will try again later, she's playing with the dog atm.
good luck! Wink
I went for it and ordered the vicky storch, it's fantastic! (Thanks Tracy for sending it so fast)Wink

Vicki I was just wondering if you got one yet and how is it going?
