I've just got your email (hidden amongst 5,000 HE ones lol) I'm all excited - should definitely be here in time for my birthday (31 Mar)!!
I'm practicing tying a MT with a borrowed Kozy atm - DD seems to love it, fell asleep after a few minutes in it and I can manage to get her off of my back while she's asleep without her waking! Any tips for getting a secure tight carry? I'm very narrow shouldered and find it's not always easy to get comfortable.
With front carries I have my own odd method of tying, it's not as comfy to start with and it's not so easy to get tight but it's far more comfortable after a few minutes than the usual cross-at-the-back/tie-at-the-front way.
Here's some pics of how I do it.
For back carries, I tie the waist straps high up either just under my bust or over it, sit dd4 on my shoulders, get the body of the carrier up her back and the shoulder straps over my shoulders, then slip her legs off my shoulders so that she's sitting in the carrier. I pass the straps down over my shoulders, under my arms and cross under her bottom like a normal rucksack, then tie them in the same place as the waist strap, I do half the knot first then thread one strap through the waist strap before finishing the knot.
Clear as mud? If anyone else has any weird and wonderful tips, please chip in!
oh and you need to set up filters and folders for the home-ed ones, there are some biiiig talkers out there

Thank you. The back carry your way is much more comfortable - maybe I had her too low before.
She's now reading a book on my back and smashing it into my head every two seconds lol!!
I don't suppose a back carry in a wrap could be done in a similar way could it? I'm still having difficulties, will try and experiment in a bit.
I don't see why not, as a modified rucksack. I've used the
tibetan carry since dd4 was about 10wko, but with the full width of the sling wrapped over her bum and not bunched up under her legs, but now I need to do the under legs bit, I still spread the fabric out though.
Well just to let you know I'm absolutely loving the GGBT!! and it's gorgeous.
I'm throwing her on and off of my back no problems at all and managing not to trail the ends in car parks lol.
I'll get DH to take some photo's later, of that and the storch.
oh fantastic! I don't think I have pics of my ggbt

only the straps!

Don't forget to give a little bounce and tug the straps tighter at the same time before you finish off your knot in the shoulder straps. Make the carrier a little snug at first because your child will settle in as you walk, and the carrier will feel more comfy as the straps loosen a bit with movement.
For a back carry with a child with good head control, I like to start by tying the carrier at my side high under my breasts. Put the child on the carrier and pull the body of the carrier up around their back with the shoulder straps. Hold the shoulder straps high over your head and scoot the child with the carrier around to your back, bending over slightly as they go under your arm. (they will be secure as long as you keep the straps up high.) Lean further forward and put the straps straight over each shoulder. Either cross them over your chest or wear them back pack style on the corresponding shoulder. Then give your bounce while pulling on the straps to lift the baby's bottom higher on your back. Reach straps around to back and tie under baby's bottom. You may want to then retie the waist straps a bit tighter at this point to make sure they are snug.
Hope this is not too confusing. I hope I can get photos of this method on my site soon.
Thanks to everyone who has purchased a GGBT from BabyArmadillo!!!
Hugs,
Alana
Hey Alana! Lovely to see you here

Really loving the GGBT again now. I went through a period where I wasn't wearing it as much, so it wasn't getting enough love but it's now a firm favourite again! Possibly because DD loves it so much and it's so comfortable, she likes the back up as high as possible which I can't get with some other carriers and this is the one carrier I can still use to get her to sleep if necessary
Can I ask what do you do with the straps which are used for the tote? I have trouble tucking them in and end up with them hanging out, just wondering if there was a special knack to it I'm missing!
